CASE STUDIES

RD 2037, Rindge Tract had a number of problems during the recent high water. One problem was a significant leak emanating from what appeared to be a rodent burrow about 1/3 down the levee slope at
station 357+00.

The District contracted with CSI to use their EM equipment to see if any anomalies could be located in the problem areas. CSI noted a spike in conductivity at station 357+30.

An excavator was used to investigate the area. The levee material was quite firm, except for a small pocket of peat and organic clay encountered about 8-feet below the crown where a leak was located.

The photo below shows the water gushing into the trench. The levee was backfilled. The area had been running water when the Venice Gage hit 8-feet.
